How To Use Cart Subtotal Based Discount In Your WooCommerce Website

Discounts are great, right? A good discount can change their purchase decisions from No to Yes.

Adding the Cart Subtotal Based Discounts to your WordPress WooCommerce wholesale website is a great idea.

Here in this blog post, I will show you how you can use Cart Subtotal Based Discounts on your wholesale store and generate more revenue.

If you have some special wholesale customers, then you can give them a specific wholesale role and you can reward just those special people. But for your normal wholesale customers, you can give them special discounts based on ordering more.

WooCommerce does not come with the Cart Subtotal Based Discounts features, so you need to use a plugin called WooCommerce Wholesale Prices Premium, which can help you to add this feature to your site. The plugin also helps you to set up discounts for different minimum subtotal amounts and wholesale customer roles.

They also have a wholesale suite bundle, which comes with three major plugins: Wholesale Prices Premium Plugin, Wholesale Order Form Plugin, and Wholesale Lead Capture Plugin.

With the Wholesale Prices Premium Plugin you can set wholesale pricing, minimum purchase amounts, tiered discounts, control shipping & tax separately from retail customers, etc.

Wholesale Order Form Plugin helps you to create AJAX ordering form that is searchable, categorizable and 100% focused – the most efficient ordering experience for wholesale customers.

And with the Wholesale Lead Capture Plugin, you can eliminate admin busy work in your store by adding all the necessary registration, login, and wholesale signup approval sequences you need.

So, if you need more features and you have a wholesale website, you can go with the Wholesale Suite bundle which gives you lots of more features and you can also save some money.

After purchasing the plugin, log in to your WordPress website and install and activate the plugin.

Once you have done this, go to WooCommerce > Settings and switch to the Wholesale Prices settings tab, on the Discounts page and scroll down until you find a heading called Cart Subtotal Price Discounts.

cart subtotal based discount add mapping

Here you need to add mapping by filling the details. The first field you have to fill is to choose the Wholesale Role. You can create a specific wholesale role for selected customers and use as to create a different mapping.

Next, select the Subtotal Price from when the discounts will start applying. And then choose the discount type it could be either percentage-based or price-based.

Usually, I recommend you to stick with fixed discounts as that gives you more control over how much value you can offer customers.

With percentage-based discounts, you can end up giving away large quantities of product for free for shoppers that make very large purchases. But, the option is there if you want to use it.

And if you gave this mapping a title, then you can do that. Your customers will see that name when they meet the correct wholesale role and cart subtotal price. In the end, click the Add Mapping button.

After adding a mapping, the system will monitor your user’s cart to check if they should receive the additional discount or not.

In the same way, you can create different mappings with different cart subtotal price levels for each wholesale role you have created.

If you want you can check the box called Only Apply Discounts If Minimum Order Requirements Met, which can control if your customers should get the additional discount even if they don’t reach the minimum order requirement rules.

On the front end, your customers will see their discounts automatically applied on their cart page.

With the Cart Subtotal Based Discounts, you can encourage your wholesale customers to buy more products than usual which can help you to generate more sales and revenue. It also gets the wholesale customer in the habit of buying more to achieve the discount.

In your wholesale terms and conditions, mention what requirements they should require to achieve the discounts.

Also, send an email to your pre-registered wholesale customers about your new discount feature. If you want you can show them an on-screen popup about your new discounts, so they can easily know about it. Popups are the instant way to showing discounts.
